The Silly Pictures of 2012

Normal bloggers use the end of the year to brag about what a charmed life they have and post gorgeous, well-lit pictures of their families. Me? I recap the year by posting the least flattering pictures I have on the ol' hard drive. Don't get me wrong, we lead a pretty delightful life. But I think the "year in silly pictures" is more interesting. I take a lot of pictures during the year and this is a nice way to get a (non-exhaustive) cross section of how we spent 2012.

We just finished the year by visiting friends and family in California, grabbing take out on the way home from the airport and then cuddling up on the couch with the pets we'd been away from for eight days. It was a fantastic year, a lovely trip, and a perfect way to bid 2012 farewell. I can't wait for 2013!

In the meantime, enjoy the ridiculous pictures.

January
Olivia survived Snowpocalypse!

February
Farewell silver bullet.

March
Truman's dad celebrated his 60th, apparently vests are in.
We got a little boozy at a free Yelp! event.

April
We celebrated Truman's birthday (which is March 31st) by going hiking at a friends cabin (Olivia took hiking very seriously, as you can tell from the picture) and visiting the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
I tried to teach a 3rd grader to read.
We got engaged! (Not a silly picture but I couldn't resist)
My little brother got married and we made silly faces at the camera while waiting for him and his wife to take their formal pictures.

May:
My cousin invited us to her very classy wedding, and this happened:

Also, this. A Michael Jackson song may have been to blame.

We also took a trip to South Dakota.

June
June was filled with summer fun. Denver's annual chalk art festival, surviving a sketchy ride called "The Chipmunk" at Lakeside amusement park, and taking Olivia camping to escape the heat in our house that didn't have air conditioning (or windows that functioned). Turns out Olivia doesn't really understand the idea of a sleeping bag.

August
We bought our first house! And one of the rooms had high gloss turquoise paint that took four coats of normal paint in order to cover the gloss.

September:
Truman and I assembled our first piece of Ikea furniture together. 32 steps later we have a really sweet shoe rack.
It Burns When I Kick returned for another triumphant  well dressed season.

October
Our farm share brought us so.many.root. vegetables.

November:
We visited Tennessee for Thanksgiving and Vegas for a friend's wedding. The pictorial highlights happened in Vegas.

December
We  I drank miniature bottles of wine in a hotel room in New Orleans, took funny pictures of my friend's baby at Christmas (Caption contest. Go!), spent time with my family in Southern California, and caught up with college friends in San Francisco.

I hope you have a happy, healthy, and humorous new year!
